When one thinks of Radio Flyer they remember those shiny red and white bikes that they have made for years and years. They also produce a line of Radio Flyer bikes for younger children and this includes several models of tricycles. The company has been in business for almost 85 years and it is not so well known that during this time they have produced war supplies as well as toys for kids.

In 1917 a Chicago resident that immigrated from Venice Italy named Antonio Pasin started make wagons in order to make enough money for his own wood shop. Even at that time he had more orders than he could fill and by the nineteen thirties they were very popular all over the country. In the forties the Radio Flyer was requested to stop making wagons because the metal used to make them was needed in the war effort. Instead of halting the line they began to make blitz cans and made these and many other war products for three years. The red wagon made its appearance in the fifties and it is hard to think of any family that did not have this popular wagon.

Radio Flyer prides itself on using only the best quality materials to make their products and they stand by the safety of each product. Their bikes, trikes and wagons may cost more than other brands but they are worth the money. Many families have the wagons and bikes and pass them down through the decades, not just the years.

You know a product is made by Radio Flyer because of the red and white colors and bikes had that familiar bell and streamers from the ends of the handlebars. The training wheels on the bikes are made just for that product so there is no chance of bending, breaking or falling off. You have to take a tool to get them off when your child is ready to go on two wheels. The bikes and trikes are made of steel and almost indestructible.

The bikes may look a little different than the did when first made. Today they still have that bell so you can get out of the way fast. However they are no longer just red and white. The bikes of today come in bright color combinations like red, yellow and blue or for girls they come in light, medium and dark pink.

They produce the Fold 2 Go Trike that folds up so it can be transported in any vehicle or store away with a minimum of space. There is an carry handle and a latch that will keep the bike folded and then keeps it safely open when riding. It comes with a red frame, blue seat and yellow fenders but also comes in different shades of pink. This trike is for kids one and a half to three years old. The company has several other different three wheel trikes including one with the big front wheel and two smaller back ones that is made of durable steel. They also make stroller trikes that have pedals but also a handle that Mom or Dad can hold on to and steer.

There are many models of two wheel bikes that have training wheels that can be removed once they are no longer needed. There are bikes that adjust with the size of your child so when the grow several inches in just one day you do not have to go out and buy another larger bike. There is a clamp that makes the bike get bigger. These are called the Grow ‘N Go models and can be ridden by kids as young as two and up to three or four years old. Grow ‘N Go Lights and Sounds has a few more options. It has turn signals that actually blink along with other lights. Instead of the bell there is a button you can push for a horn and this bike also plays music. It will need several AA batteries so that the horn, music and lights function. Purchase this bike in the bright colors, red and white or in pink.

Radio Flyer bikes are as good for young children today as they were several decades ago. Bicycles and Tricycles are made well and they are strong and durable. They also produce larger bikes for kids in the 4 to 6 year age range. All bikes come in the primary shades or pink and some still come in the familiar red and white. Safety is the main concern of the company and you will not find a safer product out there for young children. Kids that like to go fast and stop in a hurry probably should avoid these bikes because they do not have brakes. You have to use the old foot on ground method for stopping or slowing down. But, they are perfect for a beginner that is not going to go that fast.

There’s no time like now to start reviewing all of the different models of Radio Flyer Bikes . You won’t want to miss the full review of the Radio Flyer Classic Lights and Sound Trike either. You can’t go wrong with any of these bikes!
