Knowing how to refill your Desk Jet printer (hereafter referred to as Deskjet) will surely save you lots of money. If you tend to use your Deskjet very often then the replacing of your ink cartridge can be quite. In fact, if you know how to refill your own cartridges, you can save hundreds of dollars each year. Refilling a Deskjet ink cartridges is actually very easy and takes less than haft an hour to complete. If you are fed up with the huge sum of money you have to pay to get your ink cartridges filled then you should consider these simple steps on how to do the job yourself.
First thing you have to do is to take the cartridge away and put it on a sheet of paper. By doing this, you will be sure that your table won’t be dirtied by the ink.
The refilling kit often comes with three color ink bottles (color Printer), another black color ink bottle, a syringe and needle.
Have a closer look, you will find out that the ink cartridge has many holes on its body. Every hole has a color. Now you turn the ink cartridge over and remove the black tape used to cover the hole. This usually is located at the bottom of the cartridge. Once the tape has been removed, you can see a ball bearing covering the hole. Now use the syringe (no needle) to insert into the hole. Use your hand to push the ball bearing gently into the cartridge.
Now you can connect the needle which came with the refilling kit into the syringe. The place you will be inserting the needle in is the small opening on top of the syringe. Now you may take the cap away and begin pumping the ink. The level you can fill is from to of the plunger.
Now it comes to the step of injecting ink into the cartridge. You should take good care of the ink bag and try not to accidentally pierce it or you will have to change the entire cartridge. Just keep on until you see bubbles in the fill hole.
You should watch the ink hole when you are filling it. If there are bubbles in the hole, the ink may be already enough and you should stop pushing the plunger. To remove the excess ink, you might pull the plunger up a bit.
Now you may remove the syringe and wash it. After it is clean, you will repeat the process with other ink colors. If you are filling a black ink cartridge, the syringe can only be use once.
Now that the job has been done, you may start printing again. You may try printing a test page to see if the printer is good. There may be an error message acknowledging that there is no ink. But if your DeskJet is still able to print then you don’t have to pay attention to that message.
