Why do you have to take the trouble of administering pest control measures for your residence? For one or another reason in the future, you might be selling your house even if it’s not something that you would be willing to do as of the moment. No matter how appealing your house is from the outside, real estate agents and buyers would steer clear of it if they see signs of pest infestations. For example, termite colonies found in the foundation of your house are huge deterrents for potential buyers. Furthermore, banks generally refuse loan applications with houses used as collaterals if they discover that the property is overriden with pests; like potential buyers, banks view pest-infested houses as bad investments. You could treat the amount you pay for an expert pest control company to assess the cost and accomplish pest eradication in your home as an investment for the future value of your home.

Mosquitoes are a vector agent that transmits disease-causing viruses and parasites from person to person without getting the disease themselves. They can carry fatal diseases such as dengue, malaria, etc. Both male and female mosquitoes are nectar eaters, but the females of many species are also capable of drinking blood. Females do not require blood for their own survival, but they do require additional substances such as protein and iron to develop eggs. They feed on the blood of other animals and in the process they transmit detrimental bacteria from one place to another.

There are many methods used for mosquito control, but first we should have knowledge on their life cycle. Mosquitoes go through four stages in their life cycle: egg, larva, pupa, and adult or imago. Adult females lay eggs in still water like salt-marsh, lake, and even in plastic pail. The first three stages are aquatic and last 5-14 days, depending on the species and the ambient temperature; eggs hatch to become larvae, then pupae. The adult mosquito comes out from the pupa as it swims at the water surface. Adult females can live up to a month but most of them do not live more than 1-2 weeks.

Now, we know that mosquitoes prefer stagnant water and dark places for them to flourish. So keep your house clean and devoid from still water that will be formed. Clean your drainage and pipelines regularly. Make sure that there are no leakages.

In places near bodies of water like pond, get rid of all floating debris and other solid waste material from the water. Solid wastes provide breeding area for mosquitoes so make sure that they are cleaned. It is also useful to breed mosquito-eating fish in water to help control mosquitoes.
