Yesterday evening was the premiere of HBO’s new vampire series True Blood. New Orleans is the setting of this vampire story and its heroine is Sookie Stackhouse a waitress at Merlotte’s bar and griddle. Sookie is played by Oscar winning actress Anna Paquin of the Piano and X-Men celebrity.

But Sookie isn’t your classic waitress she’s got the capability to read peoples’s thoughts. And in this era vampires have come out of the closet you might say. Vampires are living their lives in the open. With this new synthetic blood perfected by the japanese there isn’t any longer a need for vampires to feed on humans.

In the True Blood premiere a vampire walks into the bar and sits in Sookie’s station. Sookie is straight away attracted to him and that is’s when the fun starts.

I believed last night’s episode of True Blood was quite comical. This new take on the vampire genre is unique and engaging. If you’re trying to find your typical run of the mill vampire story you’ll be pleasantly surprised with something that is different. The producers and writers have made a concentrated effort not to be a story built on vampire clichs.

Sookie your southern heroine is vibrant, inviting and witty. Bill the vampire is naturally dark, puzzling and ill-omened. You also have a bunch of supporting characters and I am doing mean characters that definitely bring something to the table. The “flaming” cook Lafayette Reynolds is sure to bring you some laughs this season if you like raunchy humor. There are villainous characters in True Blood I’m sure you’re going to love to hate.
