Retail tax or sales tax, added onto the total price of good purchased, is a reality that most people accept. Because of this implicit acceptance it comes as a pleasant perk that with travel from non-European Union (EU) countries into EU countries and purchasing goods within those countries can result in reclaiming any taxes you have paid on good. We all know duty-free shops within international airports; however, this law is in effect for a variety of retailers throughout the EU nations.

If there is one piece of junk at home that takes up more space than anything else, it is the vehicle that is not being used at home. This is because they just sit around at home, usually with something wrong with them, and hold a permanent spot in the street or the garage. Most people do not understand their options when trying to dispose of this magnitude of "junk".

Solar hot water heaters, geothermal heat pumps, and wind turbines may qualify for a nonrefundable energy tax credit. The credit is usually equal to 30% of the cost of the eligible equipment and may include the cost of the labor used to install it. This credit was expanded by The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in early 2009. Several of the prior credit limitations were eliminated and it now provides for a credit equal to 30% of the cost of qualified property. The credit is available for equipment placed into service through 2016. It is also important to note that this credit is a nonrefundable credit, which means that it cannot be larger than your tax liability.
