Just as blogs can have different purposes, they can also have different types of posts. This article will show you the five different types. Varying the types of posts can help keep your audience and you interested. Posting often, while keeping your blog fresh and interesting, will keep people coming back for more.

1. The “Product Comparison” Post

Reviewing products on your blog can help to monetize it by allowing you to insert affiliate links within the body of the post. The posts should consist of the good and bad points of the product. It’s always a good idea to list at least one bad point as nothing is perfect in this world. By being truthful about the products you review you’ll attract a loyal audience and earn their trust. If they trust you they will be far more likely to click on your affiliate link and make a purchase. At the very least they will continue to follow your posts.

2. The “Quick Tips” Blog Post.

These types of posts are great for providing quick content should you be short on ideas or busy working on a larger post. They consist of few words…100 to 250…and are focused on one key area of a niche. “How To Change A Tire” would be a quick tip post for a blog on car maintenance.

3. The “List” Blog Post

Blog readers love lists! If you look at the most popular blogs you’ll see that they make good use out of this type of blog post. You can make lists fit any niche topic imaginable. They are great ways to convey information online because they can easily be scanned by web readers who like to skim over information. You can create resource lists that will help your readers find information on your niche. You can also create lists of different ways to accomplish a goal in a niche, like “5 Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Sales Letter.” The possibilities are endless.

4. The “Interview A Guest” Blog Post

This type of post can take a lot of preparation and work but can pay great dividends. It provides content with a different style of writing, which can be refreshing to your audience, and can provide more traffic to your blog. The guest blogger is more then likely going to mention on their blog that they guest posted on yours. This will usually pique the interest of their viewers causing them to drop by your blog to read the post.

5. The “Instruction” Blog Post.

Like quick tips, how to posts help you provide valuable information to your readers. However, unlike quick tips, these posts go into detail on a certain topic. Some how to posts are even separated out into two or three part courses. For ideas on what to create how to posts about, look at the most frequently asked questions in your niche and develop posts around those topics.
