Philadelphia Phillies fans were treated to back to back incredible years by a franchise that had not been to the World Series but a few times in their entire history. They were so close to repeating that the NL Pennant was nothing more than an afterthought. The table is set yet again for another huge run into the post season.
To deny that Oakland has a lot of work to do to get back into the American League West would be a lie. However, a team does not have to necessarily be a World Series favorite to get the fans excited. Come the first day of the season, any team could come out of a division and get into the playoffs. The question is, “Will the Oakland Athletics be one of those teams?”
One team that will be happy to put last season behind them will be the San Diego Padres. They had it pretty rough last year and 2010 brings a lot of hope and optimism with it. This is their chance to show off some young talent and hopefully give the mainstays a run for their money. Some old favorites have left, but some of these young players are now looking to make a name for themselves.
The burning question for most teams as the 2010 season starts is can they compete? The Yankees just want to know if they are going to repeat! This is a team that went on an incredible ride in 2009 and is looking to do more of the same this season. With the talent that they have, there is no reason to think otherwise.
Imagine being on a baseball team that has to know that every day they go out there they are in competition with two of the best teams in baseball: the Red Sox and the Yankees. While some teams will run and hide, the Rays take this challenge head on because they know that it makes them a better team. While they did finish 19 games back last season, it was more about the quality of the division than it was their play.
