If you don’t have any other reason to develop an employee policy manual you should consider one for the simple reason of outlining your attendance and leave policy. Your staff can misunderstand many of your rules and policies but I find that this one more than any other is not completely understood. So my recommendation to avoid any problems would be to produce one for this purpose.

As the unemployment rate continues to remain high the advantages to those looking for business management jobs are pretty fortunate since there are so many different types of those jobs. From executive search firms to entry level they are continually looking for more talented people, especially in the business management field. Whether your skills are in hotels, restaurants, banks, or operations, the talents you have can generally be carried over into a different field pretty easily.

If you’re considering one of the many jobs in business management fortunately you will have a large choice to choose from. Choices from some of the higher paying jobs as an Operations Manager to one of the lowest paying as an Administrative Assistant, you will surely find a career field that matches your experience and interests. If you’re in it just for the money you may be financially happy but remember a career expands over several decades.

Are employee policy manuals a requirement to operate a business with several employees? The short answer is that they are not; however, if you are smart you will have one anyway! When I tell you that one legal claim from an employee that thinks they were wronged by your company will be enough to put you out of business. Doesn’t really matter if you were really wrong or not, it matters if you are able to establish that fact.
