If you don’t have any other reason to develop an employee policy manual you should consider one for the simple reason of outlining your attendance and leave policy. Your staff can misunderstand many of your rules and policies but I find that this one more than any other is not completely understood. So my recommendation to avoid any problems would be to produce one for this purpose.

Are employee policy manuals a requirement to operate a business with several employees? The short answer is that they are not; however, if you are smart you will have one anyway! When I tell you that one legal claim from an employee that thinks they were wronged by your company will be enough to put you out of business.
