Windsor Berkshire A Town Of Historical Significance

Windsor is a town in Berkshire England of about 30,000 people that is most known for its castle. It is close to the River Thames and is one of the best places to live in the United Kingdom. The town used to be called New Windsor because another town about 2 miles south was referred to as Old Windsor that originally was the residence of the King. Henry I moved the residence around 1086 to the present location and the name change to plain Windsor came about just recently in 1974. Windsor Berkshire has much to offer in things to do and see.

Matlock Derbyshire A Brief Overview.

In the beautiful Peak district of Derbyshire, near its eastern edge is the small town of Matlock Derbyshire. This quaint old town was transformed many years ago by the introduction of the railways. Previously a small hamlet where the main occupations were mostly agricultural and lead mining, it became a major tourist attraction during the Victorian era and right into the twenty first century mainly due to its outstanding beauty and reputation for being a water cure centre.

The town is very historically important due to its old age and strategic placement in the course of events of British history.
